What We Do

Camp Glenorchy Market Place

Nestled among some of New Zealand's most spectacular scenery, the project will feature resource-efficient buildings that are designed, constructed and operated so that their impact on the environment is redacted. The design will reflect and celebrate the natural and cultural environment through green architecture, healthy construction materials and native landscape restoration, while including a creative element from New Zealand artists and craftspeople.

The goal is to create a comfortable and beautiful aesthetic experience, while integrating state-of-the-art technology that decreases water and energy demands. Visitors will experience first-hand how our sustainability solutions conserve resources. We hope visitors will be inspired to pursue similar conservation solutions in their own homes and communities.

The new Camp Glenorchy campgound - which is currently closed until 2017/2018 - will offer affordable bunkhouse cabins, tenting grounds, RV and campervan sites as well as built structures to support those staying at Camp Glenorchy. The new bunkhouse cabins are being designed to serve trampers, school groups, families and to host informal educational workshops.

Camp Glenorchy will be built as the first of three phases of the Master Plan and will include:

  • Campground for 25 tent sites and seven caravans
  • Eight Bunk Cabins
  • Community Kitchen
  • Dining and Meeting Room
  • Campground Toilets
  • Campground Showers
  • Campground Laundry & Drying Room
  • Maintenance Building
  • Lockers & Bike Storage Facility
  • Organic Garden Classroom
  • Solar Garden (for photovoltaic electricity generation)
