This apartment blocks involved in this $1.6m recladding project were originally constructed from concrete columns, beams and floors and clad in Harditex. The Brosnan team tackled the issues by stripping the cladding, replacing deteriorated timber, plus the removal and/or refurbishment of aluminium joinery. This was then followed by installing nibs on decks, re-screeding and tiling of the decks and recladding.
However, the biggest task facing the team, especially in the early stages of taking on the project, was the building of trust and confidence of the Body Corporate and the residents as a result of the fact that the original contractor had been declared bankrupt, leaving the project unfinished.
Brosnan Construction were also mindful of the safety and continued comfort of the residents who remained in situ during the remediation, which helped greatly in delivering a successful outcome.

Enabling commercial tenants to resume trading in the shortest possible timeframe is a challenge in itself when repairing earthquake damaged premises, but when further damage is only discovered during the project, then it can place strain on both timelines and budget. Dealing with these issues professionally is paramount to success.
The earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 left many buildings in Christchurch damaged. Some have had to be demolished, but for The Sails Building on Ferry Road, Brosnan Construction undertook structural repairs and upgrades, through to interior fit-out.
The development of a major retirement village on the South-Western outskirts of Christchurch is a major undertaking. Brosnan Construction has initially been awarded the contract to construct the main, three-storey centre for the complex using innovative, new techniques.
Being awarded this work, to complete the office fit-out for a leading firm of architects, has its own inherent challenges around total quality of fit and finish. Add-in the use of high-specification materials and finishes means a true test of our attention to detail.
